Meals

We provide the children with healthy balanced meals, which are all prepared on site by our resident cook. We will also introduce them to new foods, to celebrate a festival or when learning about other cultures. The children are involved in cooking and growing activities. Their contributions towards the food preparations all help to introduce them to a healthy lifestyle.

When a baby is at the weaning stage, we follow the parents' wishes, again all our food is made on site, and pureed for the babies. We do not add salt and use fresh ingredients which are all sourced from our local Waitrose.

Pre-School

Montessori

A Montessori education is renown for giving a child the best start to their education. Children are free to explore a range of materials at Manor Grove to stimulate their learning. From sandpaper letters to the number rods, our approach supports learning in the key areas, exercises of everyday living, sensorial, language, maths and knowledge & understanding of the world.

Maria Montessori was born in Italy in 1870 and became the first female medical doctor. She worked and observed children who were supposedly un-teachable in Rome. Through observation and her scientific background she developed the Montessori materials that are found in Montessori schools and day nurseries worldwide.

Montessori believed that if the child was given the freedom to explore the world around them through their senses, rather than being told by an adult, that the child was more likely to develop a sense of joy for learning, which in turn would develop the child's confidence and understanding of the world in which they live in.

A child in a Montessori day nursery will be found selecting their own activities from the open shelving, then trying the activity for themselves, with the adult there to guide and support the child in their chosen interest.

Testimonials

Jack has attended the daynursery full time since he was 5 months old, this decision was not easy, but the reassuring and compassionate staff made this challenging and emotional step so much easier. We chose Manor Grove because it was a Montessori nursery, and as children we also experienced a Montessori learning environment. As well as having caring and trustworthy staff, it has a lovely family atmosphere. Its great location allows Jack to have experiences he would not gain at other day nurseries. We would not hesitate to recommend Manor Grove to other families.

I compare Manor Grove to other setting that I have seen or experienced as a parent and can happily say this is the best daynursery for my child. The combination of the fantastic location next to a working farm, open aspect, wonderful staff and added extra's like regular cooking, gardening, the Music Lady, the yearly outings, engagement with parents, fabulous healthy meals... I could go on. I am very happy to recommend Manor Grove.
